The Date Has Been Set!

Well, the date has been set.  This past week I turned in my resignation letter that will go to the Board of Education tomorrow night.  My last day of work will be November 28th and we will fly out the first week of December.  The time has come to take the next step.

We are still fundraising and need $3550 to pay for the tickets.  Our monthly US budget will be covered by one of our three hopeful tenants.  Our Kenyan budget will be covered by the money we have saved by selling just about everything we once owned.  Can you help us by donating today?

When we arrive we will be picked up at the airport by James and Joab, two of my best friends.  We will arrive at the IV and I will be able to show my family the dream we have been developing the past few years. For those that don't know, both Jodie and my Dad traveled to Kenya a few years back.  They visited the IV before the cabins were done and trees were planted.  We sat on the bare foundation of cottage 4 together, looked out over Lake Nakuru and dreamed of "one day" when we would return and see the project again.  That day is less than two months away!  I am excited to reunite Jodie and my Dad with Kenya and the IV, I hope they will be proud of what we have accomplished together.

My Mom, brother Seth, daughters Marquite and Natalie, and son Phillip have never been to Kenya, in fact they have never been outside of the US.  I cannot put into words how excited I am for them to arrive in Kenya, see the IV, and meet our friends there.  It will be a life changing experience for sure.

And then there is you, our friends, our family, and others that may be reading this that we have not met yet.  We are happy to invite you to join us on this journey.  We cannot do this alone.  We will share our thoughts, feelings, and experiences so that you can enjoy this trip and learn along with us.  We will share opportunities for you to help and I believe that together we will accomplish something big!

For now, we have a few things we need your help with:

  1. Funding to cover our tickets ($3550 still needed)  please consider making a pledge here: Pledge to Support the Klamms in Kenya
  2. Growing our Facebook community: Klamms in Kenya  This will be the first place that we post our photos, videos, and stories and the easiest way to stay in contact with us.  Please join the group and add any of your friends that are interested in following along.
  3. Praying for our family and this trip.  Please pray that our houses would be taken care of, our funding would come through quickly, and our trip will be safe, fun, and educational.
