Knowing that today was going to be the day that my resignation was going to be officially accepted by the Board of Education, there could've been some stress or nervousness...but that never happened.
The day started as many have the past 6 weeks, being greeted by the amazing staff and happy students at EHS.
When I found a quick minute I gave our travel agent a call and told her that we finalized our date and gave her a unique request: "Chris, we are all set to leave the first week of December, can you find us the best price on some tickets leaving either Tuesday, December 2nd or Wednesday, December 3rd and arriving in Nairobi in the morning?"
Chris paused, "Arriving in Nairobi in the morning? Phill, I have never seen that but I can look. Every time I have booked it you arrive between 6 and 8pm"
"Thanks Chris, I found one flight on the internet that arrived in the morning and that would be great as we wouldn't have to spend the night in Nairobi." (Note: We have been budgeting $1100/ticket and with the odd request were fully prepared to pay a little more) As I am about to thank Chris for looking into this and getting back to us I hear a gasp on the other end of the phone.
"Chris?"
"Phill, you're not going to believe this...I just found tickets arriving in Nairobi in the morning."
"Awesome!"
"Um, wait a second, they are...that can't be right, hang on. Wow, they are $856 each!"
That's right friends, our $5500 ticket budget just got smashed down to $4280 - we just saved $1220!!!
The day didn't stop there. My mom was talking to Chris later on in the day to give her the passport names and birth dates, etc. and Chris mentioned she had access to a few travel insurance policies. We were hoping on a pricetag of $4000 for my family of 5, after some research and Chris talking with an agent, she secured us the price of $2700 for all 8 of us! Another HUGE savings!
The good news didn't stop there...
I will not spell out the details of the final and most important part of my day, I will just share a picture that means the world to me and let each of you figure out the third and most important part of today.

Oh, and by the way, my resignation was accepted tonight at the Board Meeting. Thank you Edgerton for all that you have done for my family and I!
Final Thought: Some of you may believe in coincidence, that coincidentally on the day of my resignation we would save $1200 on tickets and even more than that on insurance and coincidentally my daughter would not have practice or work and would be able to pick up the tickets with me and coincidentally she would be happy about the whole thing... I don't believe in coincidence. This my friends is Providence guiding us along the way, reassuring us that yes it is right you have sold your belongings and yes it is right that you are resigning your job and yes it is right to move forward.
