It has been quite a week since the first Facebook status and Blog post... (hint: if you are looking for the latest blog post and cannot find it on Facebook - MrKlamm.com or PhillKlamm.com will bring you to this blog site)
So, let's all get caught up:
Job status: I am and always have planned to continue working until we leave for our trip. Our trip dates are not yet set and still depend on the three major items: 1) Sell House 2) Health Insurance and 3) Ensure that our trip expenses and monthly budgets are covered.
House: We have some initial interest and believe that the house is competitively priced. We bought it for $120,000 a few years back and have done a lot to it including but not limited to: new siding, windows, gutters, window wraps, deck, opened up the kitchen dining room combo, added a half bath to the main floor, added an office in the basement, and so much more. If you know anyone looking for a great house in an amazing community send them to us!
Fundraising: Many people have asked how they can help? What and When are the fundraisers, etc. Thank you for being so generous! Our first fundraiser will start tonight with this blog post. Any and all donations will be a huge help for my family and the people we will work with in Kenya. Our request is that you consider helping our family purchase our airfare. We are predicting that the cost will be around $15,000. This money will cover the 5 of us to fly from Chicago to Nairobi (stay for a few months), Nairobi to Colombo, Sri Lanka (stay for a 1-2 months), Fly back to Nairobi (stay for a few months), and fly home to Chicago. As you can see, the timeline is still very open. Can you please consider helping us with our airfare?
